Plecostomus Pandrop

I'm not sure if that's a googlewhack or not. Perhaps I spelled the fish wrong in any case. I could go look it up, but not to worry. It surely don't matter.

Decent festive period, that.

I did turn 39 though. Eek.
It's not so bad actually. The alternative to aging is worse. As far as I know. It's not like growing older is a shock, is it? We know it's coming and it'll get harder to function as it does. Nice thought that!

I really should throw a few more thoughts this way. It's good to know no one else is watching but that it's still sort of public...I should try out a few things. I might post the odd thing a little more like reviews. Poetry too. I've been pretty prolific, and some of it seems good to my eye anyway. I'm getting better, at least, I can see that much.

A very quick review would be to say that the Iron and Wine album 'The Shepherd's Dog' is brilliant. I really discovered Americana, as it seems to be known, in the last year or two. Really, it's all just music. And good music at that in some cases. This album has echoes of early 70s west coast rock, traditional folk, psychedelic and country, I guess. God knows what Sam Beam is on about but it's compelling stuff alright. He says it well, whatever it is, and writes lovely melodies to go with it. Good, rich layered production as well which is just giving up new secrets from its labyrinthine forms every time. Recommended, on all levels.
